Budapest Flea Market Tour

The largest second-hand market in Budapest, the flea market on Nagykorosi Road, may be located some distance from the centre of town and yet most tourists find the journey out there well worth the time. The bustling market is an experience not only for those with fixed aim but also for those who just want to do some "stall shopping".

This is cavalcade of old and new, the superb and the showy, the glorious and the kitsch. Old bronze pestle and mortar bottles with marble stoppers, lead soldiers military honours speak of bygone ages. Our Gay tour Guide Laci has been going there every Sunday for the last 20 years, knows each dealers and knows how to bargain getting you the best price, because this is all part of the game! Laci says "Every one the of items on sale has its own story. And perhaps this very fact gives the market its remarkable and mystical air."

The market, comparable to Portobello Road in London or the Paris Flea Market, is situated outside Budapest and offers both high quality antiques and objects of smaller value for those seeking gifts.

Our Ecseri tours start in central Budapest at 9.00 on Saturday morning, when the market is at its busiest. English or German speaking guides with a thorough knowledge of antiques and with the crucial bargaining skills are available.

Fee: EUR 60 per person.
