Budapest is fortunate to have some of the world's finest Turkish baths. Not only do they boast original Ottoman architecture (consisting of wonderful octagonal pools, cupolas and colored glass windows) but offer a unique - and sometimes hedonistic - bathing experience.

And while some, such as the Széchenyi Gyógyfürdo are more recent, cheap entry prices and expert masseurs - who happily re-arrange your limbs and muscles in ways that you thought (up until now) were impossible - are common to all!

Guests of the adjoining Gellért hotel tend to feel fairly smug about the fact that the 'in-house' pool is probably the finest Art Nouveau example anywhere in Europe. A contemporary report on the hotel, built in 1918, said that "The St Gellert Health Spa and Hotel reveals itself to the onlooker as a building of huge dimensions. Its proportions are classical, yet in its detail and ornamentation the architecture is Hungarian with a touch of the east." Indeed, the artistic effect of the medicinal baths, located on the bank of danube, is due to its wonderful statues, mosaic tiling and stained glass. This characteristic style extends from the internal areas to the outdoor pools and the artifical wave pool. Besides the jacuzzi, inhalatorium (special breathing techniques), artifical wave pool. Leading off from the main pool on either side are two Turkish style thermal baths, one for men, the other for women. You'll pay an extra 450 HUF for a therapeutic message, while there's also a full range of medicinal spa treatments available.
Gay men go to the thermal baths always, the pool and the outside area visited in summertime.
Open Mon- Fri 6 am - 6 pm (closing time 7pm). winter: 6 am - 4:30 pm (closing time 5:30 pm). Outside areas open from May - September. Medicinal content of the water: sodium, calcium-magnesium-hydrogen carbonate and sulphate-chloride, significant fluoride ion content. Please do not remain in hot/medicinal water more than 15 min., or/and consult your physician first!

The 50-occasion season ticket can be used several times a day, but there can be o­nly o­n person at a time in the bath with o­ne season ticket. We issue entry tickets until one hour before closure. Guests must leave pool areas 15 minutes before closing.
