No driving "culture in Hungary" ! People driving very fast on the motorways pushing you from the back. Sorry for that ! We use to drive "Trabant" and "Lada" cars, and we could not achive that speed limit!!

M1: Budapest - Hegyeshalom

M5: Budapest - Kiskunfélegyháza (parts towards Szeged and the southern frontier under construction)
M7: Budapest - Zamárdi (112 km section) and Becsehely - Letenye (9 km section)
Motorways are toll pay motorways and can be used with prepayed vignettes. Vignettes can be purchased at bigger filling stations and at bigger post offices.

Vignette tariffs for motorcycles, cars and caravans (vehicles until the weight of 3.5 tones):

4-day vignette: 1270 HUF (5EURO)
10-day vignette: 2000 HUF (8EURO)
31-day vignette: 3400 HUF (15EURO}
1-year vignette: 30500 HUF(12.EURO)

Traffic Fines
Police may assess fines of up to 10,000 HUF on the spot; these fines have got to be paid later by cheque. In the case of major offences, police may revoke driving licences on the spot.
Important! The blood-alcohol level permitted in Hungary is 0.00%.

Areas in Budapest Closed to Public Traffic
The Castle District in Buda is a separate, restricted area (closed using barriers); drivers must pay a special fee to enter.
Passenger cars are not allowed to drive from Margaret Bridge onto Margaret Island. Passenger cars may enter from Árpád Bridge, but only to the car park at the hotels.
